All the fish and shrimp I sell are locally bred and raised here in Bexley, Kent. Breeding is what I enjoy most, and raising the fish myself means I get to follow their progress before they leave the fishroom.

• Familiar water conditions. When your aquarium has similar pH, GH (general hardness) and KH (carbonate hardness), there is less change for the fish to adjust to. This can make acclimation more straightforward.
• Attention as they grow. I get to watch their development and feeding as they grow, rather than only seeing them once they reach sale size.
• A settled start. The fish grow up with familiar water conditions and a regular feeding routine. My aim is to keep things stable and avoid unnecessary disturbance while they develop.

Live foods are part of how I raise my fish, from fry through to sale size. Their feeding changes as they grow, so the food they are eating when they leave matters too.
